Recently got blocked for being "spam" apparently when users mark you as spam now they make it to where your profile can only send messages and post statuses. NO COMMENTING ANYTHING whatsoever.

I got marked as spam, I'm pretty heated about this. Upon contacting myspace "support" this is the conversation that went on

Please read the following very carefully as it gives detailed information on the issue you are experiencing:

Our system detected that many users marked either your friend requests, messages, comments, or event invites as spam. When this occurred, one or more of these types of communications sent by you automatically began routing to junk folders. Furthermore, your ability to post comments has been disabled. Since this is an automated process, we are unable to reverse it manually.

In order to resolve the issue and return your profile to normal, one of two things must happen:

- Users must visit their "junk" folder and mark your messages/event invites as "not junk" OR

- Users must visit their "spam requests" folder and accept your friend requests.

You may also want to review your profiles layout, as content on your profile may also contribute to your spam reputation. Such content includes any URLs, links or image hosts you might have posted on your profile.

Keep in mind that any user can perform the previously mentioned actions and it is NOT a requirement for the same users who marked you as 'spam' to mark you as 'not junk'. Current friends are more likely to help out, so you may even want to send them a message followed up with a bulletin or a stream update to let them know to check their junk folders so they can perform these actions.

For security reasons we cannot advise you as to how many not junk marks are required, or how many users marked you as spam, but the issue should be resolved as soon as a significant number of users complete the above actions.

We noticed that you sent an event to ask people to mark you as not junk. Events are treated differently than messages in many cases so this may be why it was not in peoples junk folders. Furthermore, we noticed you have been using the event system as a bulk messaging system to promote your personal web site and send many other bulk messages that are not events to your friends. Event invitations are intended for the promotion of events and to confirm attendees. Continued abuse of the event system to send bulk messages will result in termination of your account.

The only way to change your spam metrics is for people to mark your communications as not spam. We understand you may not feel this is fair, but the reason your communications have been routed to spam folders and your ability to post comments restricted is because a significant number of people were marking your communications as spam. It is our experience that users impacted by a negative spam rating are able to change their rating by modifying their behavior and being patient while their friends mark log into their profiles and mark their messages or other communications as not junk.

Ok, well also i know TONS of people complaining about myspaces css

Your messages are not currently being routed to Spam folders; only Friend Requests are being routed to Spam. To reverse this, you will still need to follow the instructions described in previous e-mails.

Anyways, just a warning for you all BE CAREFUL people can mark you as spam for NO REASON, even if its just because their jealous.

So I am at the point I am not really much interested in Myspace Friend Adder sites much anymore. Originally I wrote the script that AmpAdds runs just for educational purposes I guess you would say and it ended up becoming its own site. It pretty much runs itself though with the changes myspace has made lately some default pictures are unable to be grabbed where others are. I've tried to fix this but I have not been so lucky in fixing the problem 100% and i'm just frustrated and ready to be done with the project all together and I really cannot devote the time to AmpAdds like I used to. Besides the issue with retrieving default pictures everything else works pretty well.

Features that AmpAdds has.
- Gatekeeper - Anticheat measure to record any attempts at users cheating by manipulating the adding links.
- Hidden referal links - Basically when you go to a referal link, the referal id is set to a session and then stripped from the url to keep people from removing the id.
- Network sharing - Sharing to Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter all work fine and reward points to uses that use the feature
- Dual Referal links - Uses both Bit.ly and Is.gd URL shorteners.
- Keeps a history of all adds, referals, unique visits, page hits, total users etc
and of course the standard featured that most every Friend adder has.

I've spent a lot of time writing and working on this site but I'm just not into it anymore. I am not selling just the script. I am selling the domain, the script, and the database. Up until a few months ago, I've just never really liked using FaceBook. I've used just about any social network you can name, but for the most part, I've really enjoyed the MySpace way of social networking.

What I like about FaceBook:
I've been reunited with a few friends that I hadn't seen or heard from in over 10 years.
It's incredibly easy to use the Facebook Connect feature on countless websites, and it is readily accepted by users which is great for developers and webmasters.

What I don't like about FaceBook:
BORING - GEEZ CAN'T I GET A LITTLE COLOR HERE ??????
I'm the last person in the world that tries to draw attention to himself, but I would really enjoy the use of some background color, or changing the font color, or some sort of difference would be nice. I understand that the plain profile page is that way for the sake of not distracting the members from socializing, by giving them a lot of flashing comments and flash games plastered all over the place.

Maybe Facebook should offer frontal lobotomies as well.

Facebook Staff is QUITE Restrictive at times, and I've been banned/deleted a few times for being too social.

Those of you that have added me on FaceBook will notice that I post a lot of stuff on my wall, and most of it tends to be URLs to WTF-BB.org, and to SupremeAdds.com. I do post A LOT. Many times per day. I've had personal friends that I've known for 25+ years block me on FaceBook for advertising this forum in wall postings.

So, that being said....

I've never once been contacted by FaceBook about the amount of links I post on my wall. I would think that if I were to be considered to be an abusive member, or breaking the TOS, that I would be sent a message telling me to stop, OR ELSE, but nope.... never got that message.

I was deleted for adding too many friends.

I was being overly social on their social network, by adding about 2000 people in one day. There is no limit set forth in the TOS, and there is no information publicly posted on a specific number of friends you can add in one day.

Why does a social network want to delete my profile for being too social, and not for being spammy?

I got a message similar to this one:
"This account has been disabled. Bulk adding of friends using the email address form is prohibited."

So, now I have started a new FaceBook because some of my friends only use FaceBook.

The reason I started this thread is so that other members can talk about their experiences with Facebook.

Has it been good or bad for you?

Overall It's been good, because my friends found me, but I'm still not in to it, for me personally it's just to bland and boring to keep my attention, others find the plainness is easier for them to deal with, and can't tolerate the comment postings on sites like Tagged or Hi5.

About a week ago, a friend of mine mentioned the new MySpace Profiles could cause problems on 3rd Party NON-Api sites - like layout sites, adder sites and trains etc... but that all the MySpaceID and oAuth/OpenSocial sites would be fine.

I haven't had any problems using the few new myspace profiles that I've tested, but then again I haven't been to ALL MtSpace sites either lol - that would take an eternity!

Do any of you have a "new" MySpace Profile? Any trouble using it anywhere outside of MySpace?

The only changes that need to be made are replacing the "123456789" with your friend ID.
You will need to change BOTH of the lines that contain "123456789" before it will work properly.

Hi, this might sound odd to some of you, but recently, I logged into my Facebook profile that I use for marketing, and I had over 1000 new friend requests. I have posted in a few other topics about how I get all those Facebook Friend Requests, but what I found is that I didn't have a good way to accept mass facebook friend requests.

I searched in all the usual outlets for scripts and bots, but nothing seemed to do what I needed. There are several bots and software makers that specialize in FaceBook posting and promotion, but all the ones that I looked at did WAY more than what I needed, and they all seemed to cost $$

What I was looking for was a bot or some software that only accepted friend requests, and not all the other stuff.

Now some of you may be wondering why I would need a bot to accept those friends on Facebook.

I don't like clicking a "Confirm" button 1000 times. Not when in the same time that it would take to manually accept all those friend requests, I could easily have 1000 more incoming requests.

I needed something that worked, was free, and safe.

Since I use FireFox, I immediately opened up iMacros and logged into FaceBook.

After I logged into Facebook,I went to my friend requests page and I created an iMacros Script that will automatically click the confirm button for me, and not be breaking FaceBook's ever changing Terms of Service.

If you want to use this iMacros script, or even improve on it and share it, here is the process I used and it worked just like I needed it too. And it's 100% free

Then, once the Friend Request Page has finished loading, I open the iMacros Sidebar inside FireFox 3.7

I use this iMacros code to automatically accept facebook friend requests:

I don't just run the code one time, because that will only accept 1 friend. I set the iMacro to "Loop" 1 time for each pending friend request.

Here is something that you should know; When you are accepting Mass FaceBook Friend Requests, if you have more than 200 pending friend requests, you should set iMacros to loop a MAXIMUM of 200 times. When the iMacros Script has finished looping 200 times, REFRESH your browser and set iMacros to loop again, 1 time for each friend request you have, up to the 200 person limit.

The reason for setting a maximum of 200, is because at a certain point, you will need to refresh the browser to remove the accepted friends from your pending friend request page on Facebook, and bring up at least 200 more. If you don't do this, then the iMacros will move on to the Group Invites and start accepting them. Also you will notice that there is a 1 second delay between accepting friend requests. I set it to one second because I have a fast internet connection. You might try setting the delay to 3 or 4 seconds and see if that works better for you, but I do recommend at least a one second pause between accepting facebook friends.

Now save that as footer.php

Now we have footer.php and header.php

Opening yet another fresh document. We will throw in our includes. I actually prefer to use require_once() instead of include() but for the sake of this tutorial lets use include()

Here I will show you a bit about connecting to MySQL. For this. We will be using the following snippet.

First let's start with a simple question.
Why use MySQL? Why not? Hmm? Say you are wanting to keep up with a bit of information that only your site would be able to handle, Say for example page hits. You can't count them yourself. Your server can though but, It needs a way to keep track of the page hits.What better way then to use a database but, Before we can record any data. We need to be able to connect to our MySQL Server.

So let's look at the above code.



This bit of php simply tells the server that we are going to need to run this snippet thru our servers PHP Interpreter. Without this, None of our PHP would properly execute. Easy enough eh?



Now then, In order to connect to our MySQL Database. We need to first tell our php interpreter the details for logging into the MySQL Server. So let's discuss the next bit of code.



$hostname = "localhost";
$username = "";
$password = "";
$database = "";


Above we see that we have four variables being declared. $hostname(Generally localhost works, This is on a server to server basis, Check with your host.) $username(This is the username for your MySQL Database.) $password(This is the password that corresponds with the username for our database) and $database(This is the name of our database.)



We need to fill in these details, Here I have includes an example.



$hostname = "localhost";
$username = "aliceamp_alice";
$password = "123456zyx";
$database = "aliceamp_tutorials";


This will give you a general idea of what this bit of code will look like once you have properly filled in the details.



Now then, Let's use the details and try to establish a connection.



@ $connect = mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password);


Note the use of a variable here, $connect. We are going to use this variable to determine whether or not the attempt to connect was successful or not.



If a connection is established, The above statement will return no data therefore $connect will be nulled, If the attempt to connect fails, the above statement will return FALSE.



mysql_connect()


This function tells our PHP Interpreter that we want to execute a connection attempt on a MySQL server using the included arguments. Arguments?



mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password)


Notice how within the mysql_connect() function there are the variables that we declared earlier, These are considered arguments, These will be the bits that the function uses to attempt a connection on the server.



On to our next bit.

This is a conditional statement, Also known as an "IF statement" If statements use basic logic. let's halt there for a second and Ill explain this with a real life situation.



I put gas on a piece of paper, If I light the paper on fire, something will happen. This is the general principal behind an if statement



Now back to the above, As we can see we are saying if $connect equals(==) FALSE then the connection was not successful and we should tell the user.



We tell the user by using the echo() function. What echo() is doing is basically just sending a string of data to the browser, In this case a message saying "Unable to establish a connection."



Now then, Notice the use of

for this bit its saying okay if $connect didn't equal FALSE what else should we do? Again basic logic comes into play.



On to our next bit.

Here we are going to use a variable again for handling any error that might occur, This time we are going to try to select the database, Granted $connect did not equal FALSE

The above function tells our PHP Interpreter that we want to select a database that is located on the MySQL server we are now connected to. It only requires one argument which in this case is $database. The only argument that should be included in your database name. It can also be written as such



mysql_select_db("aliceamp_tutorials");




Now then, We are again seeing the use of an IF statement to determine if $select equals FALSE which would indicate that the interpreter was unable to select the database we specified. If $select were to equal FALSE, lets echo to the browser that the database was not selected.



ELSE lets echo a message saying okay that we are successfully connected and the database was selected.



That is pretty much it, Or is it?



We just have a few curly brackets we need to close, and also need to close out our script.

By request, I present you with a fairly simple and easy to use plugboard. This is nothing fancy. but here is what this includes.

All this downtime with moving the servers is due to the
other clients on the same server as ours abusing the
CPU and RAM.

This has all been resolved, and everything is back to abnormal.

My sincerest apologies for the disruption of service!

ScorpioHost.com is a good hosting company and I've been hosting with them for about a year now.

ScorpioHost was not to blame for this outage, rather the abusive clients are the responsible party(ies).

But I don't need to point a finger at anyone, as long as the Forums are back !!!

Hey - I wanted to let you know about a project that Stanford University ( One of the best science and medical research centers on earth ) has been running for a few years, and i am a part of it too, along with a lot of my friends that I know here in Arkansas too.

Scientists at Stanford University have been some of the leading producers of medical advancement towards finding cures for many types of cancer, Alzheimer's, and hundreds of other common afflictions that people can get.

Stanford is unable to progress the research on their own, due to the massive amounts of computers, and servers, and the expense of the electricity to power and cool all those super-computers that they are running, and about 10 years ago, they started doing something they called "Distributed Computing"

I've been running the program for quite a while now, and it does not affect your system in any way - it only uses the CPU and Memory to analyze data when your system is not in use, but running.

Here is a screen shot:

When viewing the image, what you will see is the image of the strand of protein will rotate slowly, and it will randomly change shape, by varying the degree of attachment of the nearest molecule. It's hard to explain, I'm a nerd, but I'm not a scientist.

It's best to let it run without viewing it, because it will run much slower, while it is running in the task bar, it is not displaying the image, or using the graphics card as much to change the information about the image, and how to change it's pattern.

This is super important research, not just some dumb kids making cool graphics on computers. This is the real deal.

How it works is simple - you make a secure connection ( done automatically ) to the University, and it grabs the information for the image simulation, and then the software runs the simulation, and records any useful data from the experiment and the next time you start a new one, it sends the info back.

All automatically, you can if you want, change the settings to notify you when each action is taking place, so you can have 100% total control over the software.

The software is light enough to run on a laptop too.

The small software just runs beside your clock, and you can click on the icon to change your settings, but you really don't need to change anything - just let it run - and it will do it's thing, and securely too.

This can be done 100% anonymously, but I don't mind telling people about the fact that I'm using my computer to help find a cure for cancer.

Feels good to be part of this - I think that it can really make a difference.

I've lost 2 people already to cancer - so I feel that anything I can do to help get the cure in the hands of Scientists at a University, instead of relying on a Pharmaceutical company to find the cure is a great way to use my computer when it's just settling there anyhow.

Here are some companies that also participate with this project, using the same software.

I've scanned this thing with every anti-virus, firewall, port scanner, you name it, I've checked for it - it's clean, and developed by Stanford University Professors, and Ran by Scientists at the University, not by students.

If you're on MySpace, when you click a link on myspace to go to another website, it usually stops and asks you if you really want to go and says the websites name, but now it doesn't do that. it just goes right to the website. idk if this is temporary or not.
